Hugo Denis

Hugo Denis is a French and Canadian composer and pianist based in Montréal, Québec. Very passionate about both film music and concert music, he explores various styles and mediums to refine his writing and express his unique voice.

Having studied composition in the Schulich School of music under professor Melissa Hui, he developed a special affinity with harmony and orchestration, and has been the composer in residence for the Schulich Singers ensemble.

Hugo is also a piano and choral teacher as well as a concert pianist, and he performs regularly in solo or orchestral settings such as in Jocelyn Leblanc’s OVMF.

As a composer, his recent works include an independent video game soundtrack, orchestral and choir pieces, and numerous piano works.

His goal is to write accessible yet sophisticated music, while always remaining true to himself.
